If you supervise a learner driver

If you supervise a learner driver

These are things that may have changed since you learnt to drive:

The screenshot is from a recent Vauxhall manual’s handbrake instructions. See what your car manual says.

A common problem I find is that parents of learners have been telling them to stop at every give-way line. This causes the problem of learners not looking until after they stop, so not developing a good sense of slowing to an appropriate approach speed based on visibility. Please ask your learner to try to keep moving at give-way lines if there’s no vehicle(s) to give way to.

You can take out a separate insurance policy for learner and shorter than a year if you like. Then if any claims arise when they are driving, it’s on their own policy, so doesn’t affect yours. Companies like Marmalade or similar specialise in this.

I would also strongly recommend you get one of these or similar: Suction interior mirror
